Demon Days - Gorillaz
My cousin Jacob first showed me Gorillaz, he lent me this CD. Man, am i ever glad he did. It is absolutely beautiful. The great combination of 2D, Noodle, and the guys they bring in to add to the music makes it absolutely wonderful. My favourite part is songs 3 through 7, just a killer sequence of 5 awesome songs, being Kids With Guns, O Green World, Dirty Harry, Feel Good Inc, and El Mañana. I don’t actually own the CD and it makes me really sad, as it’s super hard to find in NL. I love the songs Feel Good Inc, El Mañana and DARE the most, just cuz they mostly have 2D and Noodle singing in them respectively. I feel that when they rely on other artists for the vocals so much, that they just don’t sound as good to me. El Mañana is one of my top 5 songs of all time, and the only reason this album isn’t higher, is because the whole album doesn’t feel as strong as others on the list. Still an incredible album, worthy of a listen if you have never heard it before.

Billy Talent 2 - Billy Talent
This one is more sentimental than anything else. It was the first CD that i bought with my own money and really got in to. A good buddy of mine showed me Red Flag, and i had to go out and get the CD myself. I remember my mom being with me, and being all “this has no bad words in it, right?” to the guy at the counter when i gave him the money. It has probably one of the strongest openings I’ve ever heard with Devil In A Midnight Mass, and the whole album follows suit. It’s a much more complete album than the first one, and it really showed the world what Billy Talent were made of. With the release of their new album in the fall, and a new single TOMORROW which i just found out… this is exciting. I will be a BT fan forever i think.

Sam’s Town - The Killers
At number 19, one day late, we have Sam’s Town by The Killers. This was actually my introduction to The Killers, as i had heard some of Hot Fuss before, but I didn’t know it was them. I originally found this album long and i didn’t enjoy all the songs on it, but it really grew on me. From the epic introductory song Sam’s Town to the ending ballad Exitlude, the album has a very unique sound, that i have yet to have heard anywhere else. It is better than their other three in my opinion as the others have a couple really good hits, but the other songs kind of feel like misses to me. This entire album is all quality songs, and is a masterpiece The Killers should be proud of.

Meteora - Linkin Park
This list gets started with my favourite Linkin Park CD, Meteora. This CD was the intro i had to Linkin Park, and nothing else seemed to compare to it. The first song i head was Numb, probably one of their biggest hits, if not the biggest. In my angsty little teen mind, the song really spoke to me. Nowadays, I find myself liking the other songs a lot more, such as Faint, Lying From You and Breaking the Habit. I find it’s better than the other two they released afterwards, as Minutes to Midnight lacks the originality that Meteora had, and i just didn’t enjoy A Thousand Suns at all. From what i’ve heard of Living Things, it sounds like it could shape up to be just as good as Meteora was, I just hope that Mike continues to rap in his songs, as the songs that have Chester and Mike are always my favourites.
